My emphasis on balance in all scenarios arises when I sense a tilt towards unjust and biased viewpoints. This ranges from trivial matters like overwhelming popularity of certain things and people’s preferred colors, to significant social inequalities and convictions. If wisdom equates to balance, then I have perpetually pursued equilibrium, often playing devil’s advocate and entertaining alternative viewpoints whenever I detect a bias (political or otherwise). I strive to empathize with unsympathetic opinions and those marginalized, as there is invariably a human element on the opposing side informing those beliefs. This can be challenging in a society so ready and willing to condemn and polarize, however, I feel it necessary to remain connected with people, as opposed to ideologies (well intentioned or otherwise).
